Book Hop/Follow Friday

Book Blogger Hop

"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"
I'm trying to think of one-I usually don't read the most hyped books right away.  I know that I did not like the first book in the Lady Julia series by Deanna Raybourn but I loved the first two Lady Emily books by Tasha Alexander.  Most bloggers I've seen prefer Lady Julia (and Brisbane) but I found them much less enjoyable.  It made me feel like I was missing something for not agreeing with those bloggers but I wasn't worried about my reviews or how people would take them.

"What do you do besides reading/reviewing as a hobby?"
Well reading really is my main hobby because outside of schoolwork that's about all I have time for.  But I also play viola in an orchestra, I love puzzles (jigsaw, crosswords, and sudoku being my favorites), and I love watching TV and movies.

  3. I haven't read the books you mentioned, but it's always disappointing to discover books that don't live up to their hype or potential. You're smart to wait on the over-hyped books to see which ones really are worth the read.

Glad to have found you via the Hop!

  4. Hmmmm, I've read both series but not sure which one I would choose. Julia and Brisbane have the whole love/hate thing going on way more, whereas Emily and Colin's relationship is sweeter. Not sure I can decide on this one... :D

  5. So awesome that you play viola, and in an orchestra!! I started playing violin a few years ago and only played a handful of recitals and special performances. I get too nervous on stage, so I prefer to teach.

  6. I love it! A question pertaining something other than books! Here's the
short list of what I'm doing when I'm not reading:

Cooking, gaming, gambling, drinking, smoking, golfing and sometimes even
    watching TV.

I expound on all of the above at my blog. Follow me here -

  8. Stopping by from the hop. I don't read a lot of the very hyped books either, although I'm getting more curious about them as I'm reading more blogs! But if my expectations are too high, I'm more likely to be disappointed.

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog -- now I'm discovering yours! It's been interesting to read what we've all been listing as books that we haven't enjoyed -- there's a lot of variety.

    Happy Hopping!
