Happy Birthday to Me!

Since it's my birthday, I wanted to do something a little different instead of my usual book review (although I'll be back tomorrow!) and I wanted to share the list of My Desert Island Books:

1. The Complete Jane Austen-P&P is my favorite book but since I'm kind of greedy, I'd want all of them.
2. The Bible-I'm a Christian and while Austen is first, if I only got one book, I'd want this one (in an English translation)
3. Poison Study by Maria V Snyder-obviously one of my favorite books, this combines several genres (fantasy, mystery, action, romance) in a pleasant brew; there are two sequels which aren't as good but should be read for more Yelena/Valek
4. The Complete Sherlock Holmes Stories, Volume 1
5. The Complete Sherlock Holmes Stories, Volume 2-As they're in separate volumes, they each must take an entry on the list; anyway I can't think of a fifth choice so it doesn't matter too much anyway.

What's your list? Please share in comments or leave a link to a blog post!

  1. Happy birthday, Stephanie!!! Yay! I hope you have a great day and that you get some nice presents, too!

You would definitely not be bored on a desert island, you chose some grat books. Which books would I choose? Definitely The Phantom of the Opera by Leroux, my favourite book. I'd also take The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, Quo Vadis by Henry Sienkiewicz, the Wyndspelle trilogy by Aola Vandergriff for fun and the Bible for contemplation.

  2. Actually other than Pride and Prejudice specifically and The bible my mind has gone blank. There are lots of books I like but you have have a passion for them in this scenario!!
Inhaling the Mahatma - christopher Kremmer comes a wee bit close as well.

    Happy Birthday.

  3. Definitely with you on the Jane Austen. Also I thought I was one of the only people who didn't like the sequels in the Study Series as much as the first one! I think it was something about the fact that Yelena is a taste tester in the first one that sets it apart for me.

    2. All of C.S. Lewis (Narnia & Christian works)
    3. Bible
