Happy 2014!

Good morning! I just wanted to post a quick update as I'm not sure when I'll be posting again due to my vacation. I do still have two reviews pending and if I can write them today, then you'll see them later this week. However because I am slightly crazy I volunteered to go into work for a few hours today which means I'll have less time for writing reviews since I still have to go over my packing and prep for my flight tomorrow.
Less than 24 hours til we go!
Happily I did meet my 2013 reading goal of 300 books read (just barely-I finished #300 a little before 11.) For 2014, I'm going to be much more moderate, shooting for 15 books a month or 180 total. This is the smallest amount I've ever tried to read since I started keeping track in 2010 but I think it is more realistic for my life now.

Then, I'm not sure what book I want to read first so I thought I'd poll you all.

Possibilities:
Taste of Darkness by Maria V Snyder
Going Rogue by Robin Benway
Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill
Diamonds and Deceit by Leila Rasheed
Uninvited by Sophie Jordan

Have you read any of these yet? I intend to read all five soon enough but what should get the privilege of being FIRST?

Something else I'm working on is a wrap-up post with my stats. Inspired by Jen Ryland/YA Romantics, I want to look at where I got the books I read, genre (for the YA books), and publisher/imprint. I have a lot of data to go through but I'm really excited to see what publishers put out my favorite reads of 2013.

Until next time, have a safe and happy day and keep reading!

  1. 300 is amazing! I used to read 200+ per year then barely made 90 in 2012. I read 167 in 2013 so I'm going for an official goal of 100 in 2014 but hope I make 200.

    1. I hope you make your goal! I had so much more time in college than I do now, which has been hard to adjust to. I do hope to reach 200 but I don't want to stress about it like I did in 2013.

  2. Way to make your goal! I've only read Being Sloane Jacobs of those five, and I enjoyed it. It's predictable but cute, which you could probably guess.

  3. Great that you met your goal and good luck with 180 this year! I haven't read any of those books, but I really liked Maria Snyder's writing-style in Poison study, so I'd probably recommend reading Taste of darkness :D Enjoy Disneyland!

  5. Happy New Year! I hope you have a great time on your vacation :)

300 books in a year is amazing. I think the most I've managed is 200 and that was the year I was unemployed! I worked my way up to 150 books in 2013 but that includes a few novellas and a picture book. I don't like stressing about trying to make my goal either so I start it out lower than what I hope to reach and then increase my goal as I go. Last year I set it at 100 books though I knew I wanted to try for 150. Not sure what I'm going to aim for this year. Maybe the same.

I have read Diamonds and Deceit and Being Sloane Jacobs and I really liked Being Sloane Jacobs. I have a feeling you will too.

  6. Wow, 300 books! I feel like such a slacker now. ;) That is certainly an amazing amount of books. I Being Sloane sounds like a good one. :) Happy New Year!

  7. Wow! Congratulations on 300! My goal was 100, and I did meet it + a few extra. But, I had to rely on counting several children's books, which is kind of cheating. Counting children's books, I read WAY more. ;)

Have fun on your vacation!! :D

  12. 300 books, super congrats!! I just made my 100 but that was with a children's book thrown in at the end lol. I'm really enjoying Taste of Darkness if that helps you decide :)
