The Week to Come 20JAN13

Last week was a lot of fun with one of my favorite reads of the new year, Dancing in the Dark. Visit the review to check out my discussion questions related to the book.

I also fell behind on my goals so that is one of my objectives for the weekend: just plain reading! I am also editing my goodreads shelves to delete titles. On the non-reading side, I saw Silver Linings Playbook and loved it! I'm a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan and if you are as well, I bet you'll like it a lot. But even if you're not a fan, you'll enjoy Jennifer Lawrence's sparkling Golden-Globe winning performance and the many humorous moments.

Reviews for this week:

A Smidgen of Sky by Dianna Dorisi Winget, a sweet middle-grade contemporary

Hooked by Liz Fichera, romantic YA drama about golf (surprisingly interesting)

Destiny, Rewritten by Kathryn Fitzmaurice, another sweet middle-grade contemporary

Cinders and Sapphires by Leila Rasheed, utterly absorbing YA historical fiction

Black City by Elizabeth Richards, paranormal/dystopia YA from last year with a gorgeous cover

Trading Faces by Ann Herrick, a switching places YA

Is anyone else behind on their reading? What else are you up to this weekend? Happy reading :)

  1. Can't wait to hear what you thought of Cinders and Sapphires! I also really liked Hooked. Black City=not for me!

    Have a great week!

PS Yes, I'm feeling behind. Still reading Jan review books!

  2. Do you have any plans to read the book (Silver Linings Playbook)? I will probably watch the movie when it is released on DVD. I saw some recent images of Jennifer Lawrence and other cast members for Catching Fire and can't wait to see that movie too.

I haven't read as much this week as I should have. I was kind of disappointed to realize I only read one full book and a novella. I've read chapters here and there of other books but spent way too much time surfing the Internet or otherwise distracted. I think I need a read-a-thon every other week to keep me on track!

    1. I don't have much interest in the book as the film's big draw was Jennifer Lawrence-I just love her so much!

  4. I only read 2 books last week, a bit of a disappointment but some weeks that's life. I need to catch up on reviews too, sigh ... LOL. I'm off to check out your review of Dancing in the Dark.

  6. I am so so so far behind already this year! 2013 has been the year of crazy busy no time to read days, so I feel your pain!

  7. I'm super behind on my reading, and I just keep burying myself more! (Why did I need to go to the library and pick up seven books?!?!) One of the books I need to read soon is Cinders and Sapphires, so I'm super happy to see you liked it. Looking forward to your review (though hopefully I'll have started reading it by then :P)
