This Side of Salvation by Jeri Smith-Ready
Published by Simon Pulse
Releases April 1, 2014
I really enjoyed Smith-Ready's "Shade" trilogy so I'm excited for more of her writing especially since it looks like this will be in the contemporary genre, my very fave! I also like that this will be looking at religious questions because that is an important element of my life and always prompts some good thinking for me. The romance is getting me intrigued and I'm dying to know what has happened to David's parents.Everyone mourns differently. When his older brother was killed, David got angry. As in, fist-meets-someone-else’s-face furious. But his parents? They got religious. David’s still figuring out his relationship with a higher power, but there’s one thing he does know for sure: The closer he gets to new-girl Bailey, the better, brighter, happier, more he feels.
Then his parents start cutting all their worldly ties in to prepare for the Rush, the divine moment when the faithful will be whisked off to Heaven…and they want David to do the same. David’s torn. There’s a big difference between living in the moment and giving up his best friend, varsity baseball, and Bailey—especially Bailey—in hope of salvation.
But when he comes home late from prom, and late for the Rush, to find that his parents have vanished, David is in more trouble than he ever could have imagined...
Does this sound interesting to you? I was able to download a copy from Edelweiss and will be publishing a review closer to the release date so we can discuss :)
Pretty cover. <3 Sounds like an interesting book :D I hope you will love it. <3
ReplyDeleteIsn't the cover lovely? I hope the content lives up to it!
DeleteI'm so curious about this book! I enjoyed Jeri Smith-Ready's SHADE too, although this sounds very different from that story. I'll be looking forward to seeing your review :)
ReplyDeleteGreat WOW!
It sounds so different from Shade-I look forward to exploring more of Smith-Ready's range.
DeleteLike the sound of David and his emotions. Hope you get to read it soon!
ReplyDeleteMe too-I have a copy downloaded so it's just finding the time now!
DeleteI really want to read this too! Love Jeri and I've read a lot of her books including all the adult WVMP ones (so recommend!!)
ReplyDeleteI've only read her YA trilogy but I will need to keep her adult series in mind.
DeleteAh, I love it when I have posts scheduled ahead...
ReplyDeleteI'm also really intrigued by this one. Loved her Shade-Shift-Shine series!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics
It really takes a burden off my mind since I'm a worrier by nature!
DeleteDid you download the free Shift book?
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what you're talking about but do tell me more...
DeleteI think she's talking about Zach's novella: Shattered, which is free on Jeri's website :)
DeleteYay for scheduling ahead! This book sounds really, really good. And I've never read any of Smith-Ready's other books but I'm sure people are curious how her jump to contemporary will be :) Nice choice!
ReplyDeleteNow I need to start thinking about my March posts because I haven't scheduled a one of them!
DeleteI enjoyed this book (I loved the Shade series) but I have a problem with book split in past and present, and this was one of those. Jeri's writing and humor is as awesome as always. I hope you enjoy it!
